AUD/USD:

• After reaching the vital 0.9000 region, the Aussie crashed back 200 pips to the 0.8800 region due to the short-term strength by the USD.
• Previous position was placed at 0.9012 and was stopped out at 0.8980 for a total loss of -32 pips.

CAD/JPY:

• Similarly with other Yen crosses, the Yen appreciated 200 pips as traders unwinded their carry trade positions to buy back the Yen due to risk aversion.

Other ‘24′ News:

• All four producers agreed that season 6 was a disappointment, a turnaround from the FOX executives who defended the quality of the latest season earlier this week at the Television Critics Association press tour

• Season 7 will, as previously rumored, feature no traces of CTU, it’s completely gone at the start. Even bigger news is that, when season 7 begins, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) will be called before Senate committee to answer questions about the numerous illegal actions he’s done for the past six season. It looks like Jack may finally be held accountable for all that torture. Going off on that tangent, the producers confirmed season 7 will take place mostly if not entirely in Washington D.C.

• About Charles Logan, they reassured fans that unless you see someone die, they’re probably not dead. Translation: he’s alive.

• Also possibly alive: Tony Almeida! Despite dying in season 5 (and getting shot in the neck in season 3), the producers hinted that Tony (and actor Carlos Bernard) could very well return to action. In fact, they mentioned that a possible cliffhanger for season 6 would have had Jack Bauer, standing on the edge of the rocks as he did, followed by Tony calling out, saying they had a lot to talk about. The strangest part: they didn’t seem to be joking.

The trailer currently has a countdown set to reset at 0:00 on Thursday, October 25 on Fox’s website to show the trailer in its glory and the new season 7 will air on January 13, 2008. The link can be found here.

More than a week ago 50 Cent had claimed he would retire from making solo albums if West won the sales battle, but he maintains the race is still early and there is no concrete winner just yet and speculates that sales of “Graduation” will falter after the initial hype.

Fast-forward one week now, 50 Cent has now changed his tune about his threat to stop rapping suggesting on the Hot 97 radio station, if West outsells him he would instead go round for round, matching G-Unit releases with Def Jam’s. Oh have the table turns and I guess he isn’t a man of his word after all.

In likely fashion, he fails to blame himself for his mediocre release yet directs his attention to the lack of promotional prowess of his label Interscope.

“As far as the VMAs were concerned, Kanye received the upper hand. I ain’t going to front,” he continues. “He had four looks — his song “Stronger,” his new record “Good Life,” he had a performance with Soulja Boy, “Crank Dat,” and then he came out with me. So I feel like Def Jam is doing a better job of promoting the CD than Interscope. Interscope is just relying on my base and the actual music. I was on the VMAs for one minute and 20 seconds. I should’ve just stayed home.”

Kanye Defeats 50 Cent On U.K. Album Chart

Kanye West won the U.K. battle in the worldwide war of the rap superstars as “Graduation” entered at No. 1 on the album chart ahead of 50 Cent’s “Curtis.”

Meanwhile, country star Kenny Chesney has failed to outsold either artist, as many estimated would be the case, dishing approximately 232,000 copies out. Poor Kenny Chesney.

Final sales figures will be published on Wednesday (September 19) and stay tuned for further updates.

Megastar Hollywood actor, Colin Farrell, basically took a street pan handler with him (to which they’ve only met once before) and went out to spend $2,100 on clothing and related apparels at an upscale store but also goes out of his way and pays rent for an entire year to an apartment in a highly concentrated part of town. Talk about a life changing experience and being there at the right time.

What I’ve learned and thoughts regading this story:

• Hollywood Actors/Actresses are rich as hell.
• Being a bum actually pays well?
• Colin Farrell isn’t as big of a douchbag as the media portrays him to be.
• Colin Farrell and his PR firm know how to generate great publicity.
• Its sad that there aren’t many other stories like this being told.
• Street pan handlers know how to survive as witnessed by his purchases at the store.
• This will get you a lot of female fans (not that he needs anymore).
• Stress is now unemployed as no one will give anything to a nicely dressed bum.
• Other homeless folks will take notice and try to capitalize on similar techniques in order to strike gold.
• Colin Farrell and his PR firm know how to generate great publicity.

I’m pulling for the homeless man but is it truly better to change one person’s life entirely than to have a small effect on a larger number of lives by donating to charity? Colin did the right choice changing a man’s life instead of purchasing that $35,000 Jaeger LeCoultre Watch. If you think hard about it, its a win-win situation for both individuals in many more ways than one.

Both artists recently appeared on BET’s ‘106 & Park’ where it was billed as the biggest feud in hip hop. 50 Cent came out first decided by a pre-show coin toss with a crowd pleasing performance of “Ayo Technology” followed by “I Get Money.” Kanye came out with a bang on performance with a mix of “Champion” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” He followed up big with BET airing his latest single featuring T-Pain, “Good Life,” which I must admit is a very impressive video filled with cartoons/animations.

The big surprise of the night occurred when West performed “Big Brother” to the surprise of the audience Jay Z popped out from the curtains to join in for a brief moment. When asked about his thoughts about the song which was written based on West’s stint under his wing, his only answer was “simply incredible.”

In the end, BET totally copped out and declared both artists the winner by playing a video remix of “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and “I Get Money.”

UPDATE: “GoodLife” starring Kanye West featuring T-Pain

The official today has been released and the fourth installation in the Indiana Jones series will be titled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull. Direction will be handled by none other than Steven Spielberg headlined by actors Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett and Transformer’s Shia LaBeouf. The stated released date is set for Memorial Day; Thursday May 22, 2008.

What a ridiculous title, it sounds like they just gathered a bunch of random ancient words and came up with this title or they could have simply stole a title out of a Nancy Drew title. Speaking of ridiculous, by the time this movie drops Harrison Ford will be 66 years old where he will be 3x Shia LaBeouf’s seniority. Does anyone really want to see this old fart running away from cannon balls and saving the day? or might they possibly be setting up Shia to take over Ford’s role for future installments? Either way, I forsee greatness with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas at the helm.

Somewhere in this world, Kevin Federline is laughing his ass off. Britney Spears aimed to bring the house down when she opened the MTV Video Music Awards, but instead she just looked like a beached whale dancing like a 12-year-old. A little too early for the skimpy outfits, perhaps?

The former Mrs. Federline sleep-walked her way through a critical performance of her new single, “Gimme More,” and the camera pans to stars like Rihanna, 50 Cent and Diddy showed the crowd wasn’t really feeling it. Britney herself didn’t look too enthused by the ordeal and even seeming to forget the lyrics to her own song!

She lip synced which was a bad idea from the beginning, but she does it all the time so I guess it’s expected. On top of that she isn’t all that hot at all and it looks like she needs to lose at least another 10-20 pounds to be even put in the spotlight. Britney lazily walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm and seemed like she really didn’t give two shits at all. Her single is laughable, and this performance was beyond piss poor especially with all the hype being built around the come back.

Cops On The Hunt for Kid Rock After VMA Fight

Las Vegas Police Department is on the hunt for Kid Rock after he allegedly “clocked” Tommy Lee at the MTV VMAs in Las Vegas Sunday night.

According to the AP, rap producer Rich Nice was an eyewitness. He says that although Kid Rock threw the only punch that landed, it was Tommy Lee who started the fight. “It looked like Tommy Lee initiated it because Kid Rock was ignoring him,” said Nice, who was two tables away. “And Tommy Lee kind of antagonized him. And then when Tommy Lee stood up, it looked a little weird, like ‘Yo, what?”‘

“When Tommy stands up is when Kid hit him the first time with a backhand,” Nice continued. “And then Tommy Lee looked like he was trying to get at him to aggressively retaliate and then Kid Rock hits Tommy Lee again — bong. And then security grabs Tommy Lee in a headlock and pulls him off.” The word is still on the streets.

Roger Federer reached his 10th consecutive Grand Slam final with a 7-5, 6-1, 7-5 victory over a game Nikolay Davydenko this afternoon. The fourth-seeded, unassuming Russian challenged the world’s No. 1, never giving up and even earning set points in the third set. But it was yet another match in which the Russian kept it close but fell short.

The 26-year-old Federer had too many weapons, as he displayed in the final games of the second and third sets. Federer saved three break points and won the second set with a forehand crosscourt winner. He won the match and conquered the absurdity of the third set by pounding four first serves.

Federer is bidding to become the first man since the 1920s to win the American Grand Slam four times in a row. He took a 9-0 record against Davydenko into their match, and another victory for Federer would make him the first man in tennis history to reach 10 consecutive Grand Slam finals.

Tennis’ Next Emerging Star

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic had a harder time with the heat and humidity than with his overmatched opponent.

In the end, the No. 3-seeded Djokovic dealt with all of those obstacles well enough Saturday to reach his first Grand Slam final, beating No. 15 seed David Ferrer 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 at the U.S. Open.

“The conditions were extreme,” Djokovic said. “It was so hot.”

The 20-year-old Djokovic is the youngest men’s finalist at Flushing Meadows since Pete Sampras was 19 when he won the 1990 title. Djokovic is also the first man from Serbia to get to any major final.

Roger Federer watched his opponent’s last shot of their U.S. Open semifinal sail wide, then calmly walked to the net for a handshake.

He didn’t drop to his knees, didn’t thrust an index finger to the sky to declare, “I’m No. 1,” didn’t take off his shirt — the sort of celebratory gestures Novak Djokovic came up with earlier Saturday upon reaching his first Grand Slam final.

In tomorrow’s championship, Federer will face the last man to defeat him, No. 3 Novak Djokovic, w had defeated Dhoavid Ferrer in the first semifinal of the day.

Djokovic will be a heavy underdog to Federer, of course. But the charismatic Djokovic is an emerging star in the sport, however my bet is on Federer avenging his loss in Montreal leading to a fourth consecutive U.S. Open title.

The battle between today’s hip hop heavyweights are soon approaching with the much anticipated Graduation and Curtis albums being dropped by both Kanye West and 50 Cent respectively. On September 11, 2007, both artists will competing against each other for the title of most albums sold and drawing from Eminem’s school of controversy, 50 Cent has started his own marketing publicity.

“Let’s raise the stakes,” said 50 Cent. “If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I’ll no longer [perform] music. I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out any more solo albums.”

Kanye West’s last album “Late Registration,” has sold 2.8 million to date but 50 Cent’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin’?” has sold nearly 8 million.

“They would like to see Kanye West give me a problem,” 50 said, “because I’ve worked myself into a space where I’ve become the favorite. Everybody roots [for] the underdog when he goes against the favorite. ” And I bet this: When Kanye West’s sales come in, he’s gonna have a 70% decrease cause Def Jam is gonna buy records [the first week] to keep him closer to 50 Cent. So watch the first week and then watch the second week. Watch his a – drop off the planet.”

50 Cent also commented on Kanye’s hit single “Stronger,” which is currently sitting at the top of the Top 40 Singles chart for the second week running. “Kanye sucks,” 50 said. “I’m going to be honest, he sounds like a robot, he has a robot record.”

On TV – Battle of The Titans:

Kanye West and 50 cent are set to face off on BET’s “106 & Park” on Tuesday September 11, when both of their albums will hit US stores.

BET is playing up the event like a heavyweight fight, hiring renowned sportscaster Stuart Scott to deliver play-by-play reports and statistics about the rappers, reports the Associated Press.

Both rappers are set to perform on the show 106 & Park, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll go head to head on stage.

Amazon Pre-Orders:

As previously reported, Amazon announced this week that West is out-selling ‘Fiddy’ five to one in pre-orders.
