As if you weren’t already inundated with digiframe options, Samsung is trying to make deciding even more difficult with the introduction of its SPF-83V. This 8-inch frame sports an 800 x 600 resolution display with a 500:1 contrast ratio and 200 nits of brightness, but the standout feature is its WiFi connectivity and the ability to sync up with Windows Live Spaces. More specifically, the unit plays nice with the Windows Live Photo Gallery, and it can also “communicate with Windows Media Player and open standards such as RSS.” For whatever reason, Sammy doesn’t bother telling us much else, but we’re expecting it to come with 64MB of storage and a $230 price tag if Amazon’s listing is to be believed.

Sergey Brin and Steve Horowitz discuss the availability of the SDK, that it will be open source in the future, and demo applications on the Android platform. The platform looks similar to the iPhone however it implements many of the available Google products and the huge benefit compared to the iPhone is that it is open source and fully customizable.

Apple releases new iPod Touch, stock drops 4%

Today Apple announced a major addition to their iPod line called iPod touch. It bears significant similarities to the iPhone with touch screen capabilities, wide screen display, and more. There are two major new features included in the new iPod touch that have never been included in a previous iPod. Multi-touch interface and Wi-Fi access. Think of the new iPod touch as an iPhone minus the phone features.

Multi-touch Interface

With functionality practically identical to the iPhone, the multi-touch interface really brings a new dimension to Appleâ€™s iPod lineup.

The iPhoneâ€™s finger-flickinâ€™ goodness is now officially on an iPod via the same Coverflow feature that exists on the iPhone and in iTunes.

Wi-Fi

Another first for the iPod lineup, Wi-Fi is now built in to the iPod touch. What would you need Wi-Fi for? Well Iâ€™m glad you asked.

The Safari browser that exists on the iPhone is now integrated in to the iPod touch and using any public Wi-Fi network you can now browse the internet, watch YouTube videos or purchase music from the brand spankinâ€™ new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store.

Pricing

There is an 8GB model that will set you back almost $300 and a 16GB model that will set you back almost $400. My initial thoughts are that the pricing is a bit steep, especially for the 16GB model. As with other Apple products, there is a good chance the price will drop after 6-12 months.

Conclusion

Overall I feel like this is a pretty solid new product and the fact that it looks almost identical to the iPhone will be appreciated by the general public.
